my poor dh

Is sick with chills, aches, stomach flu and just can't keep the old body warm.  So I fed him some sick food...sprite and english muffin.  I was wishing I had a flower to put on the tray.   The tray is one I used as a young girl.  My dad made it when he was in High School.

Look what walked in my door yesterday.  My mom has made a few quilts over the years and started this quilt awhile back...and I get to finish it.

This is the quilt pattern.

Such detail with putting it together.

My mom even put the year that she bought the fabric, February 26, 1988, almost 21 years old.

The only thing I have to do is finish the rest of the hand quilting and put on the binding edge.

Half done block

I had to stop at the yarn shop the other day to get a longer circular needle so I can keep going on the project I'm making and saw this item.

Sheep

Isn't it cute?  It's a tape measure and I just couldn't pass it up.

Now I'm hoping that I don't get sick.

There's an awesome giveaway over at bitty bits & pieces, and if you go over and enter the giveaway let Kim know that I sent you.

woo~hoo, it arrived

Folk wear package

Look what came in the mail yesterday.  The FolkWear pattern that I won over at Turkey Feathers.  Vicki sent this out so fast I could hardly believe it was here when I opened the mail box.  She is such a sweetie, she also sent me some iron-on transfers that I can't wait to try.  Looking through the pattern I'm thinking that I wish the nightgown came in my size too.

The weather is supposed to be bad today a "winter storm advisory" until late tonight.  We have Yarn Club tonight and I'm thinking that might be canceled, hopefully it's not though, the ones who go seem to really enjoy it.  I know I do.  But, I'm not worried about bad weather.  I went grocery shopping yesterday so the cupboards are full, we have wood to keep the wood stove going and I have plenty of sewing projects to keep me busy and if the electricity were to go out I have plenty of knitting projects to keep me going for a long time.

I always treat myself to a magazine or two when I go grocery shopping and yesterdays trip was no different.  I picked up Creative Knitting and found this cute sweater/coat that I would love to make for myself.  I have yet to tackle a project like this and I know I can do it.  So, I'm not really sure why I'm dragging my feet on it.Sweater

Christmas is coming up too fast.  I bought all the ingredients for my Christmas baking and I plan to start that this weekend.  I'm hoping my sister plans to come over again this year and bake with me...hint hint.  It's always nice to bake with someone.

My cold is much, much better.  I'm feeling almost myself again.  Boy do I hate being sick, it puts me so far behind in everything.  But, who does like being sick?

I have to share a tasty recipe from The Pioneer Woman that I made last night.  I have made her "Mystery Rolls" before.  These are the best and taste even better the next day.  Weird as I am I love them after they have been in the fridge overnight so they get nice and cold.  It's like eating candy they're so addicting.  But, if you don't like Blue Cheese you won't like these rolls.

I just have to show you where our "baby" sleeps when it's cold outside.  I turned around and saw this.

                                                 Keeping warm

Please excuse the ash mess on the wood stove.  With a fire going no-stop it's hard to keep it clean.  So, on that note I'll leave you with this last picture.

                                                Staying warm

You all have a wonderful day today and try to keep warm if you live in an area where it gets cold.

i won, not once but twice

I am so pumped I can hardly believe it.  I actually won something twice yesterday.  I won this snowman at my ASG Christmas party last night.  Which BTW was very nice.  The dinner was delicious and we had a lot of fun.  There were a lot of drawings to raise money for our group.  Not a lot of money just enough to still buy the small gifts that are given out every month to the person who's number gets drawn.  One of the gals who was helping plan the party made these and donated them for the party there were 4 of them and on each table as a centerpiece.  Since I love and collect snowmen my fingers were crossed that my name got pulled for one of the 4 snowmen given away and my name was the third one picked and I almost jumped out of my seat to go pick my prize.  But, I contained myself and graciously stood up and walked calmly to pick out which snowman I wanted from the last two sitting on the table.

Snowman

Then I came home and Jim was out in the garage working, so I thought that I would pop on the computer and check out the blogs I didn't get to during the day and saw that I won over at Turkey Feathers.  I love Vicki's blog and her book is wonderful if you haven't already seen it.  I went to bed dreaming about that pattern.  My mother had given me a FolkWear Pattern years ago and can you believe I can't find it.  Not surprising with my memory and how it is these days.  When I started to move my sewing room upstairs and then having to move it back down again my sewing area is in total disarray.

Day 4

Okay, now I'm thinking that this is going to be a scarf.  I'm glad I went with the creme color vs the mustard yellow yarn that I got on clearance at the yarn shop.

Day4

Enough chit~chatting, you all have a wonderful day today.

eta: ever have one of those days when you re-read your post and see all the typo's and it sounds pretty dumb?  I found a ton of them in this post.

Pay It Forward Challenge

I commented on Sheri's Blog in November 2007, when she had a Pay It Forward Challenge.  This is what I received.  How well do you think she knows me? (lol)  Sheri is a beautiful Quilter and this apron is awesome.  Thanks Sheri!

So....I am going to do a Pay It Forward Challenge myself.

I will send a handmade gift to the first three people that leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange.
I don't know what the gift will be yet. My intention is to make something you will know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. You may not receive it tomorrow or next week but you will receive it within the next 365 days. That is my promise.
The only thing you have to do in return is to Pay It Forward by making the same promise on your blog.

Hmm....something handmade, well you know me and aprons, oops!  I shouldn't say anymore right?
