If you don't know already, I am a BIG hockey fan, my husband played hockey, my sons played hockey, and I love watching it.  I have been a Blackhawks fan since I was a young girl, and even tho I can't watch Jim or my sons play anymore, I can still enjoy my Blackhawks.  This shot was from last year when Jim and I went to a game with one of our sons and daughter-in-law.

I guess all in all it was a winner of a day.  I hope Y'all had a wonderful weekend and are relaxing and gearing up for another week to come around.  It's been cold here and no signs of sugaring yet, I am anxiously waiting to hear that first "ping" sound in the bucket.

Thanks for all the "grandma" congrats.  I so enjoyed my time down in Texas, spending it with our granddaughter and holding that new bundle of joy.

I did a little bit of shopping while there.  Jim and I love beans and dried beans are not only tasty and inexpensive, they are healthy for you.  I bought the dried soup bean mix in Texas at a Whole Foods.  The Texas Two Step 5 Bean Soup we got as a Christmas gift from our son and dil who live in Texas.  I can't wait to make that.

Yesterday tho, we made the spicy southwestern bean soup.  We soaked them for about 4 hours.

Then cooked and simmered them on the wood-stove for about an hour or so.  Yum!!!

This is really a neat give-away over at Knitting Mania...My favorite "Kitchen Rooster" give-away.

All I have to do is post a picture of my favorite Rooster that adorns my home.  Then go over and leave a comment there.  Tho I have many, this one is my favorite.  I found it in Illinois at a cute antique shop on our 29th anniversary trip.  I have since moved my rooster to another spot in my house.

He's a bit chipped but I don't care.  He looks great next to my rooster clock.
