home and gardens

The flower and vegetable gardens are doing good.  We put mulch or hay in our garden, it helps to keep the weeds down and the moisture in the ground.  We already have tomatoes growing...Yay!!!

My eggshell project was a success...for the most part.  I lost all but one of the plants that I had growing to a hard frost that came while we were gone to Michigan, the pumpkin was the lone survivor of the frost.  If we had been home I could have covered the plants to save them :(  Lesson learned here for me.

The clematis that I planted last year is blooming and I LOVE it.

It's not summer without strawberry shortcake?

Life is busy, busy, busy, here around the farm.

I'm so happy I've finally got this done and in time for any camping trips we hope to take in the near future.  I quilted it with a fish pattern that I thought was very fitting for the "glamping" theme.  Camping and fishing they pretty much go hand in hand.  I fell in love with this pattern a couple of years ago.  I'm a huge fan of the log cabin block pattern and this just had a bit of a twist to it.

Now on to the next one.

The hays been cut, the lawns been cut and the cherry trees are full of cherries.  There was a thunderstorm raging outside our log walls the other night and there is thunder in our hills right now.  It went from almost 90° yesterday to barely 60° this morning and I love it!  It seemed like spring came late this year and now it's here. The meat birds have been processed and are either frozen or canned, and that feels so good to have our pantry and freezer getting full.  I've been quilting a lot and this quilt went to a family member who is battling breast cancer, it's an X's and O's Quilt Block from Missouri Star Quilt Co.

Well that's it in a nutshell for what's happening around here.

I didn't mean to be gone from the blog for so long.  My excuse is that I have been busy :)  I took a bus trip down to Hamilton Missouri, the home of the Missouri Star Quilt Company...and...I was in heaven!!!!  I got to go to her trunk show and it was AWESOME, plus shop in all 11 of her quilt shops for a couple of days.  There also was a meet and greet at the end.  I have to say Jenny and her husband Ron are so very down to earth.  I took so many photos with my phone but thought to just make a collage of just a few of them.  Ron and Jenny were so cute together during the trunk show, you can see Ron goofing around behind Jenny's back during the show.  Seeing how she put the blocks together really is just so simple and easy.  I left there being very inspired.

One of my purchases was a coffee mug and on it it says "Make Something today".

So I did.

I hope you all are doing great and I hope not to be gone as long as I have from the blog.
