finished project and tip

Yay!  One of my UFO's is finished and I can start on the next project.

Carols mitts

Tina over at The Quiet Home posted a really, really neat tip for adding new yarns to any project, either knitting or crocheting.

I've got a lot of UFO's I'm working on right now and I can't wait to try this tip.  I even posted it on my sidebar just so I could find it if I forget how to do it.

I'm off to get my day going on this dreary rainy but unusually warm day.

ever drink pumpkin pie?

I found over at Country Pleasures a recipe for Pumpkin Pie Creamer that you put in your coffee.

Homemade Pumpkin Pie Creamer

1 cup whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

3 T. puree pumpkin

1 t. pumpkin pie spice

4 T. maple syrup

1 t. vanilla

Whisk together the milk, heavy cream, pumpkin, spice and maple syrup in a medium pan over medium heat, allow to steam, then remove from the heat and add vanilla.  Strain through a sieve or cheesecloth and store in a glass bottle, and keep refrigerated.

I realized that I had used my homemade vanilla and our homemade syrup from the farm here.  Next year I plan on planting some pie pumpkins so that I can "can" my own pumpkin.  I liked this cream, I'm not sure Mr was real fond of it, but then he poured what seemed like a gallon of it in his cup :)  So that might have been why it was a BIT overpowering for him :)

camera fix

Thanks for all the advice on the camera.  I brought my camera to this camera store on Saturday, thinking I would be buying a camera of some kind, and upon looking at my camera the salesman found my problem immediately...I had a broken lens...ugh!!!  I was still able to take photos at times, it would lock up at times, it did not come to my mind that my lens was broken.

Now, I had a decision to make, do I want to still get a new camera since I had 2 other lenses for my Nikon D80 (a zoom and a macro), or do I get a new lens.  Decisions, decisions, but the salesman was such an awesome help, he talked with me and asked what I wanted in a lens, he had just the lens for my camera, since I already had two other ones. He showed me cameras and my options, I came to the decision to keep my camera and get a new lens.  I do love my camera and I wanted to keep it after seeing what else is out there and knowing what I already have I decided to not get a new camera and get a new lens.

So, this baby that's been with me for 6 years is history.

I was excited to take some shots this morning.  Pannukakku was on the breakfast menu this morning.

Kitten food was on the menu for the kitties.

It's nice to have my camera back.  Now I hope to get some even better shots.

Y'All have a wonderful day today.

calling all bloggers

Yesterday we had a few snow flurries in the air.  I snapped this shot yesterday on my way home from town.  I just love this little cemetery and there are a lot of little ones like this even smaller ones around here.

Have I ever told you I love living in the country?  No?  Well, I'll tell you, I do (lol).  I love driving on our country roads because you just never know what you are going to find.  I put on the brakes and backed up just so I could take this photo.  Isn't it cool?  A cupola displayed at the entrance to this farm.

Since moving here we have met so many wonderful people and through blogging I have met wonderful people and I'm going to ask for help from you all :)

I have a Nikon D80 camera and I'm having some trouble with it.  I've had it since 2007 and it's been with me almost everyday and it's been knocked around a bit, abused you could say :)  I'm thinking of getting another one and I'm not sure I want to get another "big" camera.  I hope to get a bit smaller one but not sure what to go with.

My question to you all is...What kind of camera do you have and do you like it? I so appreciate all your help.

I love this time of year.  Even with having frost on the ground the past couple of days and knowing winter is almost knocking at the door, I LOVE this time of year.

This time of year I feel like I'm nesting, gearing up and settling in for the long winter that's coming.  Stepping outside this morning to take these photos I could feel the cold crisp air on my face and hands.

Red barn

I hurried back in trying not to step on the cats.  When I walked outside on the front porch they had eagerly greeted me hoping I was bringing them breakfast, right now they are fighting for their meals with a feral cat that hangs around at meal times.  This cat is big and I do mean big, I'm guessing he's been raiding other dinner plates in the area.

How about you, do you get the nesting bug this time of year?
