Now that the weather has been cooler in the evenings we took a walk down the lane the other night. I stopped to take a photo of this and saw two spiders of bugs of some sort. I was wishing I had my macro lens for this, they both looked pretty interesting.
While heading home on Sunday from Illinois we passed quite a few tobacco barns that looked like the farmers had gotten them ready to hang tobacco in them. Then, we came upon this beauty, I whipped the car around to take some photos. I didn't go on the property, I took photos from the shoulder of the road. The farm house was on the other side of the road.
With the doors to the barn open we could see the tobacco leaves hanging.
If you look closely you can see the tobacco is fill all the way to the top of this barn.
A side view of the barn without going on the property. You can see the sides are open. We had heard that every other board gets open on the barns.
A close up shot of the sides, again you can see how much the barn is filled with the tobacco leaves.
Jim and I both remember growing up and driving through Wisconsin and seeing the tobacco barns just like this.
We headed to Illinois for a couple of days so that Jim could help our son Dan put a new roof on his house.
Taking a break and discussing how things are going to go...son Dan, son Joshua, Jim, son-in-law Shawn. These guys worked hard for 2 days to get it done. I worked hard too...I shopped :)
She's not happy to have her picture taken, she was pretty worried that I was getting too close to her baby.
This beauty, tho it didn't want it's picture taken either, gave me a pretty good pose anyway.
A pair that were also camera shy, they couldn't wait to get away.
Some won't show me their face at all.
Our faithful protector/companion, waiting patiently while we worked in the garden.
She eventually showed her face...
I get the feeling she was sticking her tongue out at me...
I finally finished the coneflower quilt that I started last October. Wow, did I just say October? Man, do I have a few UFOs to finish. I've been sewing, and doing other things. If I haven't been visiting much, I'm sorry...There is a lot going on right now and I'm trying to pop in on you all when I can.
Our strawberries are continuing to bear fruit. We pick at least this much every few days.
We hull them, rinse them, and bag them up to put in the freezer to enjoy this winter.
For that strawberry shortcake that will taste soooooo good during the long winter months. Until then, we'll just enjoy some fresh picked strawberries on our Multi Grain Cheerios.
I'm still trying to get a few shots of the hummers that are visiting, they are just too quick. Here's one from the other night out on the back deck.
He's off...and he'll be back.

I know I'm a bit late getting my First of the Month post out. I actually totally forgot about it, until I ran across my First of the Month file that I keep all the photos in. Yikes! Better late than never. To see my other First of the Month photos click HERE.
I know I've been MIA lately, it seems life has just taken over from blogging.
Heading to Wild West days yesterday we took the back roads through the mountains and came upon acres of sunflowers. When I walked up to take a photo something flew away, but not until I uploaded the photos did I know what it was.
