Flowers from my Garden

I am going to show you some flowers from my garden.  My garden isn't too big and I don't have really a whole lot of variety of flowers but what I do have I enjoy. 

My Peonies are finally in bloom.

Right now I don't have too many flowers in bloom.  They are either done for the season or not quite open yet, but I do have a few that are bloomed so I thought that I would share those.

I received this plant from someone and I can't remember the name of it.

Usually most years my Bleeding Heart plant doesn't fair so well.  This year it's doing great.

I have my own wild rose bush brought down to me from Upper Michigan.  When my parents moved back from there they brought this from their yard.  It spreads everywhere.  I have transplanted many shoots and plan to transplant some more.

 

For once too my columbine is doing great.  I'm thinking that with all the rain we have been having it's been doing wonders for my garden.

Unforunately my favorite flowers are not bloomed yet. But....I'll show you some from last season.  I do have lots and lots of Coneflowers in my garden because I love them so much.

Some more finds over the weekend

I found this pitcher and it matches a bowl that I already had.

I also found this bench and you can't really see the bucket and watering can on the bench that I also found.  The small bench in the corner I already had.

I haven't done too much with my front porch over the years.  I've kind of just left it alone.  We don't really use it too much and the only time anyone comes to the front door is Fed Ex and the Pizza guy.  It's pretty narrow for one thing and in the afternoon the sun just bakes you if you are sitting out there.  So I thought why not just put some things out there.  We have to trim our bushes back some they are getting pretty full.  We usually try to trim them every year, but I think we missed last year.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  We sure did.  The kids came over to visit which is always a wonderful thing.  I kind of slept in today 7:00 a.m. which to some might not be sleeping in but it is for me.  So I feel like my day is set back some.

I also wanted to say that I am putting a link to the Breast Cancer site.  It's over on the right side bar.  All you have to do is just give a click.  I am not sure why I took it off but it's back now.   

I best be going my day needs to start.

The baby birds are BACK!

This sparrows nest is in a different place from last year.  I took the wreath down that they always make the nest in so the birds had to find some place else to build their nest.  It's still on our front porch.

It is too hard to get a good picture because of where the nest is.  We really can't tell how many eggs have hatched.

A lone egg.  We checked and this egg has just a peck out of it.  We are thinking that the mama bird pushed it out of the nest after it didn't hatch when the others did.

Ice Cream Social

Last night we went to Josh and Aleena's for an Ice Cream Social/Birthday Coffee.  It was a lot of fun.  It rained pretty hard at one point but then a rainbow came out.  It wasn't really a bright rainbow but it was still pretty and the clouds were pink.

Then there was the moon.

The Grand kids are starting to get bigger.  It's so fun to watch them play like this.

 

These two play together so nicely.  I think they were playing musical chairs.

Did I forget anyone?  You bet I did.  I couldn't believe that I didn't get one picture of G & H.  But....I did get these pictures of them.

Some Vintage Apron finds

 

I almost forgot to post about the Aprons I found when I went with my parents to the resale shops last week.  I was trying to think of how to post them.  So I just hung them on the clothes line and took pictures that way. 

I am starting to get a collection of vintage aprons but I'm not sure how to display them.  I don't want to just keep them in a drawer.  I welcome any ideas you may have.

ABC Wednesday-Unique, Unusual and maybe even Ugly

This weeks letter is the letter U.

Unique and Unusual come to mind with this picture.  You could almost say Ugly too.

Ugly being that it is unpleasant to look at. 

I have posted about these ducks before, and since it was the letter U this week this photo came to mind. 

I don't even know the type of ducks these are.  Friends of ours bought a house from a family member and are keeping these ducks until she can take them.  They lose their feathers and end up looking like this.  I hesitate to call them ugly because they have a face only an owner can love.

new e-mail address

I have a new e-mail address, it's over on the left. I have been having trouble with Hotmail and not getting any e-mail notifications.  TypePad figured it out that it was Hotmail.  So....I switched to Yahoo.

TypePad is still driving me nuts with their glitches. :(

Some shots from our Sunday walk

As we were walking on Sunday we spied a deer running as fast as it could go.  It seemed like it was in a hurry to get some where...and fast.  A bit down the trail we figured out why.  There was a baby fawn quite a ways ahead of us.  We kept walking and watched to see what they would do.  The mama deer seemed to have called it's baby over.  Then the baby started to walk away from her but not in the direction it had come from.  That mama deer kept her eye on us the whole time until we turned around and went the other way.  I wasn't going to get any closer than I was.  I wasn't going to chance that mama deer attacking.  I've heard that they can do that. 

I wish the pictures were more up close.  My next purchase is to get a telephoto lens.

But this lens I love.

 

I told you every time we go to the river there are new wildflowers out.  I am going to have to make a collage of all the wildflowers that I have taken photos of so far.

It rained some on us but not too bad.  On our way back to the car the sky looked like this...

and then we saw this...

We are not sure what kind of bird this was.  Maybe a Kingfisher?  It was fairly big and had a long beak.  I quickly took this shot and was pleasantly surprised that this is what I got.
