I baby-sat Miss Aubs today. She loves to pile things up, books, beanie babies anything she can find. So that is what we did, pile everything up on the couch. It kept her pretty busy. She had no clue that her dad was here working, a couple of times I had to distract her so that she wouldn't see him, when he came in the house from the office.

I really can't believe that summer has flown by so fast. August is gone, today is the very last day and it feels like fall weather outside. This is my favorite kind of weather. There is nothing like putting on a pair of jeans and your favorite sweat-shirt. I don't have time to post this morning as Aubrey is coming. I wish though that I could bottle up this weather and save it for days when you need a pick me up, the morning is that beautiful, but it doesn't take away some sadness.
Jim and I got some bad news this morning. Someone we have gotten to know has passed away. The bond we have shared is that our sons joined the military almost around the same time, but in different branches. Our thoughts and prayers are with Roy and his family. I am at a total loss of words right now so forgive me.
Last night was the first night in a long time that we slept with the windows open. I just love having the windows open. I don't like sweating mind you, that is why we have air conditioning, but there is nothing like hearing the night sounds. Sometimes we will hear the coyotes howling when something gets them going. Usually the train will do that. Coyotes are getting pretty common in our area now. Sometimes you will see them in broad day light. Which if you have any small dogs and leave them outside they maybe gone when you go back out to get them.
Jim finished up mowing the lawn last night, and had to load up on the insect repellent. If I walk out to the garden, I can hardly pick any vegetables, all I am doing is swatting mosquitoes. These mosquitoes are tiny, and they will keep on biting you. Our son says they are (I hope I get this right) flood stage mosquitoes, or something like that. With all the rain and flooding we have had, the mosquitoes are just vicious.
I made this for dinner last night. It was very, very good. With the leftovers I am going to make BBQ beef sandwiches. I didn't use soy sauce, because I don't like the taste of it, and the liquid smoke that I had, had seen better days, so I didn't use that either. I did use Worcestershire sauce in place of the soy sauce though. The marinade turned out very good, in spite of my changing it. I couldn't believe that I didn't take a picture to post, I totally forgot. My first thought when I took the tin foil off was "That is sure a lot of meat, we'll be eating it for days". Jim said the same thing to me, "Man that is a lot of meat". There really wasn't a whole lot left. I figured that I could make 3-4 meals out of it, but I'll only get 2. We must have been hungry. Don't take my word for this recipe though, try it and see what you think.
You all have a great day.
Does anyone get in a rut with sewing? I love to sew but lately I have been so busy with things going on in my life that I seem to forget to save time for the things that I love the most. Maybe it is just me. I think that I am having some peri-menopause symptoms. I am not too sure. I wake up at night and just can't fall asleep. I will be up for hours on end just lying there thinking. I could get up and do things and sometimes I do, but then I am so tired the next day that I want to take a nap during the day. I think that I need to find a book on menopause. I am hoping that this does not last forever, but I have a bad feeling that it will. One thing too is that we had a daughter move to another state. Our daughter just graduated from High School, and doesn't want to go to school yet. So off she moved to live with our married daughter and her family. Which is fine with me, I know she will be in good hands there. I won't worry as much. We also have a single son that lives there who is just a year older. With three of our children there they can help each other with problems, since we can't because we are so far away. Maybe that is my problem I am having a hard time with her being gone and I don't even realize it. Life sure does throw a person for a loop now and again.
I am finally almost done with my blouse, finally I have been working on it for some time now. I am not sure if I posted this yet on my blog. I do know that I posted it previously on my other blog. This is one of the demo's that was done at my ASG meeting. This is a Chatelaine, and I use it all the time. It is so easy to make. I have finally felt like sewing again. One project that I have to make is a knitted Seaman's Cap. I made one for my husband a few years ago and that is getting pretty tattered and worn. I bought some buffalo yarn and I want to make it out of that, but I have a few other things I need to get done before I can even start on that.
Today is my Dad and Moms anniversary. I remembered it when I saw this on Elaine's blog. George shares his birthday with my parents anniversary.
Happy Anniversary Dad and Mom.
Today we have started off on a much better foot. Erin didn't end up sleeping in like yesterday. She missed the first 3 periods of school. I guess she forgot to set her alarm, but when she got up she wondered why "I" didn't wake her up. Hmmmm...I woke her up the other day when I thought she was supposed to get up and was told "I don't have to be at school for another couple of hours". What's a mom to do? I can't keep track of her schedule. So I guess every morning I will wake her up whether she has to wake up or not. I think that is fair enough, can't have her being late for school again. I wonder if she'll mind if I wake her up on Saturday too. hehe....
Jared has to get shots today, so Cass and Hannah are coming here this morning. I don't think Jared is very happy about getting shots. I remember when our kids got shots I would give them their "own" bottle of pop. Call it a bribe, I just know it worked to have them not so worked up about getting a shot.
Not much happening today. I do have to get moving, the grandies will be here any minute.
You all have a great day.
Remember my neighbors that I told you about, from the previous post? Well, Jim went out to finally mow the lawn and came in with a duck egg that he found in the yard. I find these ducks nesting in the yard all the time. I would tell Jim, "I think that these ducks are nesting". He didn't believe me. Well here is the proof, one poop stained duck egg. Eww...it is kind of gross. I am not too sure what we are going to do with it though.
