We went to Pete and Ellen's Casita. We had a wonderful visit. Pete and Ellen gave me some plants from their Casita to plant in my garden at home, these are just two of them. The plants did make it home and I got them in the ground before they died on me. They have a wonderful place to just relax and spend their days puttering around their garden. As the years go by I will always look at these plants and remember them.

Jim is holding up the 82nd Flag. The AA on the flag stands for "All American". Each Airborne Division has their own name and flag. These flags flying are the Airborne Divisions. One of the flags is the POW Flag. Here Jim and I are standing in front of the flags. For years as we were going up north we would pass these flags. When Jake was assigned to the 82nd we started to stop. Sometimes we would have a lunch and look around. If you ever are going between Crystal Falls and Covington you will find this Paint River Airborne Memorial Bridge.
This is our vehicle all loaded down as we just pulled into what is to be our home for the next 6 nights. This was after Aubrey's birthday party. This is the front of our cabin which was not too too far from the busy road. The first night I was up all night long listening to the cars and trucks go by. The last night there I heard not a thing, we got so used to it. Jim did go canoeing every morning. That is the canoe he made a few years ago. It is a one man canoe. Going kayaking was a big help for him to know how to paddle it. He was doing it all wrong, using too much energy. This canoe is very similar to a kayak.
Jennie left us a message while we were up north that said Jake is doing fine. I really can't say too much on my blog, only that he is doing good, which he is.
We are back from our vacation. We had a wonderful time. When we first got up north we went to Aubrey's birthday party. I think she was pretty overwhelmed at first so many people at her party and it was just grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and of course her mom and dad. We didn't stay for the opening of the gifts as we had to go and check into our lovely cabin. It wasn't the Ritz but it was nice and suited us just fine. I think I need a vacation from our vacation. We were pretty busy the whole time. I didn't take too many pictures, just a few. I will add pictures a few at a time. It does feel good to be home, get to sleep in our own bed tonight. Yeah! On Monday after St. Johns Sunday Jim and I did go kayaking. It was really fun. I didn't get any pictures. I was too nervous that my camera would get wet or fall in the lake and I would lose it. I would love to go again. Jim did flip the kayak to see if he could get out from a wet exit. I chose not to, the water was way too cold. I'm adventurous but not that much. The conditions have to be just right. We had a lot and I mean a lot of strawberry short cake. It was all good too. I'm wishing that I had some now. We did a lot of visiting, that we haven't done in a long time, that sure was nice. The house when we got home was in great shape. We did come home a day early and everyone seemed a little surprised. Lauren asked us why when I called her on the way home when our cell phone finally got good service. Why what? Why do we want to come home? Well let me think.....may be because sleeping in a different bed for so many nights can get to a person or we miss our kids and home. Hmmmm that question really made me think what are going to be coming home to. But everything was in good order. Phil I guess wanted a home cooked meal, (at least he appreciates us). Sorry Phil that will have to be for tomorrow night, I'm way too tired. More later.
I saw this on another blog and they want people to only do the "show and tell" on this certain person's blog because she started it. But I am too shy to do that so I am just doing my own. The rules are you can put anything to show and tell about. I can be old or new. Mine is old but I'm not sure how old. This was my grandmothers "telephone table" She would talk at this table, that sat at the bottom of her stairs in her Raymbaultown home. The phone that is on the table is identical to the one she used as are the phone books that are in the table. Believe it or not I sit and talk at this table as it sits at the bottom of my stairs. Jim got this phone to work you just can't dial out. Though Jim's brother Davin did figure out how to but I don't remember what he did to call. So that is my "show and tell".

Not too sure when we are leaving today, but the girls are leaving in about 45 min. Phil is leaving around noon. I am taking too many clothes like always. Jim took one last picture of the Mourning Dove babies. There were two after all. We couldn't tell how many birds but yesterday Jim could see 2 babies. I can't see them as they are too high up and I'm too short. These will probably be the last pictures, cause by the time we get home they will probably be gone. This morning when Jim went to take the picture he could hear the momma bird and when he look up there she was sitting right above him on the wire. I still have to do a lot of last minute things, so I will go and try to get my vacation started. If they have wireless Internet at this resort I may post some pictures if I get any neat ones, but if I don't have a GREAT week. See ya!
Carri and the kids just left. They didn't seem too excited to go home like some visits. I guess that the older they are getting the more comfortable they are getting here. Usually they miss their dad lots. Looks to be may be a rainy day. Cloudy and the perfect temp. The sun is trying to peek through though. Jim took this picture just as the sun was starting to come up a few years ago when he went fishing by himself one morning. The camera was on his boat was a disposable one and he wanted the pictures from yesterday. I can see why they like to go fishing in the morning. This is just a beautiful shot. It makes me feel like I'm on that boat. Today is get serious packing day. I have decided what to bring as far as church clothes are but not regular put on everyday clothes. I brought my summer clothes down from the attic last week and there they sit. I have no room for them in my dresser drawers. I guess I need to purge some clothes out. I'm not really good about doing that though, cause I just know I will wear it someday. Doesn't matter what I have too much of, I just don't know how to get rid of things. I'm a saver/keeper, can't get rid of anything. My sister Donna would love to come and do it for me, but I won't let her. If I were to do that I wouldn't have anything left. I hold on tight to things and don't let go. Drives Donna nuts I think. I do have to go. Lots to do today. See ya.
I am starting to get really excited about our vacation. We are going to the Northwoods Resort. Lauren might go up with the girls on Friday, but she's not too sure yet. We have actually decided not to bring the boat. We plan to go Kayaking, weather permitting. I have never gone Kayaking before so if we do end up going it will be pretty interesting. I haven't even started packing yet. Jim and his client caught some nice kings and coho's. They lost some too. They had a really nice day on the water. Jim's client gave him a recipe that he makes but he uses Catfish. You put bacon on the bottom of a pot and layer potatoes sliced up, salmon (or Catfish) onions, seasonings then repeat with bacon, potatoes, fish, onions and seasoning. Heat over a propane burner outside until everything is done. It was very good. The only thing we would do differently next time is use our camp stove and our cast iron dutch oven. Carri's kids loved the fish. We'll have to get Bill to eat some too when he comes down here next. I'm sure he'll enjoy that.
