Do you love pie? Who doesn't love pie. No matter what the filling is I love pie. Anne Marie over at Na-Da Farm Life is hosting the first Pie*ography Thursday.
So what pie am I? I made blueberry. I know you can grow blueberries, but I've only picked wild ones, native to Upper Michigan. Moving out here to the country, up on a ridge in the Ocooch Mountains in Southwest Wisconsin, is much like the blueberries growing in the wild. It's quiet and undisturbed, where we can live and grow.
Blueberry Pie
Double Crust Pie:
2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Crisco
1/2 Cup Cold Water
Cut flour and crisco together and cold water.
Chill
Blueberry Filling:
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/3 Cup Flour
2 tsp Lemon Peel
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
4 Cups Fresh or Frozen Blueberries
Milk and Sugar to brush on top of crust.
In mixing bowl stir together flour, sugar and lemon peel, set aside.
Add lemon juice to the blueberries and mix well, add the flour/sugar mixture and mix well to coat the berries. Roll out the crust in a pie pan or you can do what I did and make little pies in ramekins or small canning jars or whatever tickles your fancy.
Bake at 375° for 45-50 minutes.
So, what pie are you?

Oh yum! What a great idea wrapping the crust over the pie. It's adorable and easy peasy. Thanks!

This looks absolutely scrumptious! I LOVE pie, and appreciate the recipe. I like how you made them in individual servings. I guess my favorites are blackberry, cherry and my grandmother's buttermilk custard pie...oh, and pecan, but only if it's filled with whole pecans top to bottom. Oh, and I love coconut creme, chocolate creme and key lime. OK, I can't decide! :-)

I L-o-v-e your pie of blueberries!!! In my childhood my grandmom used some rye flour to the crust, and served it with vanilla custard - the memories are coming back to me ... thank you for sharing this recipe!

The blueberry pie looks delicious. I used to grow enough blueberries for me, friends and the birds. During our bad drought of 2007/2008 I lost most of the blueberry bushes I'd grown since 1984. I guess producing for 24 years isn't too shabby.
