If you ask the locals here in Santa Fe we are. Being from Phoenix I used to acclimated to the heat but after living here for 5 years the heat is getting to me. Thinking cool thoughts.

Hot. Hot. Hot. My routine is pretty much as your. Walk early. Close up the house early. Retreat to the basement where it is cooler and sew. Now scrapbook. Your yarn is rich in color an texture and will be beautiful when you are done. Hope you can keep your cool.

I don't see how you can knit in the heat without A.C. One of my sisters live in the north east U.S. and they don't have A.C. and haven't needed it until this summer. I think it's much harder for people that aren't used to the heat and don't have A.C. than it is for us with A.C. I will say though with highs up to 105 over the weekend and lows barely below 80 there really wasn't any time I could go outside comfortably. Still, I am very lucky with an air conditioned house and car.

Pam :)

Until today our temps have been fine. This summer is off to a crazy start.

love that last scene. knitting would NOT be what i'd do in the heat!

I think knitting is a good idea--the concentration has to help keep your mind off the heat--or at least help some. We were without power for over 2 days in 90 degree weather and it was awful. I am a spoiled air condition person. I read since I don't knit and didn't have good lighting to scrapbook (we kept the curtains drawn against the bright, hot sun to help keep the house cooler). I love that last pic with the bright red chairs, dif. colored buoys, blue water and sky with mostly white boats--looks like it was designed that way!
I think your sweater or vest should turn out lovely--I think improvisation in such works just adds to their beauty. :>)

I don't knit or crochet...don't know why. I eventually taught myself a little bit about crocheting but was older and so slow I didn't stick with it.

My hand is up. I am behind too on blog stuff. I'm afraid I've missed something good. The goal is to get caught up today. LOVE those red chairs. That knitting shot makes me feel suffocating.

Hello & Welcome To My World

  • My name is Judy and I'm the owner of this blog. Thank You for visiting.
I'm a...Wife...Mom of 11...Grandma to many...Homemaker and Blogger...living in a log cabin here at Gentle Hearth Farm.
I'm originally from Northeast Illinois, and my husband & I now live on 20 acres in Southwest Wisconsin up on a ridge in the Ocooch Mountains, 10 miles from the nearest town. My husband and I are empty nesters trying to figure out life after kids.
I blog, quilt, knit, sew, bake/cook and take pictures of just about anything.
There is so much that I want to do, but there is just not enough time in the day to do everything, so I have to pick and choose, and I try to live each day in the present, life is so much nicer if you do.
