Beat the Heat...
No AC in my home do not need it that often here in Central Oregon. But when it dose happen I use the crock pot a lot... but I set it in the garage.

Sometimes I wonder how I survived the heat of SW Georgia when I was a child with no ac. I sure am grateful for it now. Even so the house can heat up just cooking something on top of the stove. We have a cart outside the entry to the kitchen... out of the house... that I keep a toaster oven on. It will hold a 12 inch pizza. I can cook a casserole or bake corn bread in it and not heat up my kitchen. I have even sat my crock pot out there.. no heating up the house except for the brief opening of the kitchen door to check on things. It is in an enclosed area and we have fans going so it isn't overwhelmingly hot out there.

Your snap peas oook great and the bread... oh how I love bread!

Have I told you lately how much I wish I was a neighbor??

well, I do...heat and all

always love your blog and great pictures....

survive by a/c... *sigh*

Jan

You guys are hotter than we are, that's a switch. I don't use the oven when it's hot, either.

ann

Is it because we are getting older that the heat is so hard on us? We do have AC, but I am following in your footsteps with the shades pulled and the ceiling fan instead of turing on the AC. Today it is cool, but more heat tomorrow. We really are praying for rain to help put out the fires. Your sauna is coming along nicely and the peas look wonderful. Our garden is suffering, trying to recover for a hail beating.

Gina

Hi Judy. Yes, we do have A/C but I use it sparingly. The temperatures here are suppose to be up in the high 90s with lots of humidity. I baked my cake this morning while it was cool. No more oven today!

Rose

The peas look so yummy...and it is 102ยบ here today...I hang clothes out, go bring up the next load and hang it and by the time the next load is done the load before it is ALMOST dry...notice I said almost. (You could run an extension outside to run your crockpot out on your porch!)

The Hubby and I put central air in our old ranch house a few years ago. We were lucky as the AC unit was given to us by a neighbor. The local electric company hooked it up and we enjoy the comfortable coolness.

We haven't had too many hot days yet this summer. I am sure they are coming. Lots of wind though.

No A/C here. We close the house up tight and use fans. I'm thinking this heat wave better be over soon. :)

First, thanks for visiting my blog, appreciate it. Second, I have AC, don't like to turn it on, but when it is in the 90's with humidity and wind, I turn it on. I installed an attic fan last summer and it does wonders when the AC is not running. It's nice that your garden is doing so well. Keep cool!!

Randy

Great looking bread! I don't have ac in my house. I came from Phoenix so the 90 degree heat doesn't bother me. When I get home from work I just open the windows and let the breeze come through.

Bev

Oh peas already!! yum... I may have lettuce in a week?? and maybe strawberries then?? just lots of weeds to get at when it dries up...but rain starting Friday again:) We never have to worry about AC

Nancy

We have a couple of window units -- no central a/c. The older I get, I just want to be comfortable, so I turn them on when it's hot and/or humid.

The peas look great, and so does the bread!

Ramona

Seeing as you've even thrown in a hot flush or two with your romantic dinner, you can think of those as your
own personal 'tropical holiday'. lol Before we had the A/C I was happy to have at least 2 fans going, as long as the air was moving I was happy.

I'm a...Wife...Mom of 11...Grandma to many...Homemaker and Blogger...living in a log cabin here at Gentle Hearth Farm.
I'm originally from Northeast Illinois, and my husband & I now live on 20 acres in Southwest Wisconsin up on a ridge in the Ocooch Mountains, 10 miles from the nearest town. My husband and I are empty nesters trying to figure out life after kids.
I blog, quilt, knit, sew, bake/cook and take pictures of just about anything.
There is so much that I want to do, but there is just not enough time in the day to do everything, so I have to pick and choose, and I try to live each day in the present, life is so much nicer if you do.
