Doing a little knitting to help me beat the heat, and I need a little bit of help from you knitters out there. I started a sweater a few years ago and I took it down to Texas with us in January. I finished the back when we were down there and started on the front and I'm just not liking it. I'm thinking of ripping it all out and starting over with another pattern.
I like the pattern, it's a tulip pattern, but after getting this much done, I'm not totally sure it's ME. I'm thinking it's TOO much tulips in the sweater. I just don't think I'm going to be happy with the finished work, the tulip pattern will also be in the front and the sleeves. Is it just me thinking it's too much?
Question: Am I crazy???? Has anyone knitted this far or farther and ripped it out and started over?

Been there, done that! Pretty pattern, but if you don't think it's "you," don't spend more time on it. Could you turn it into a doll blanket, etc.,? If it were a quilt, you could build around it!:)

I don't knit anymore but I've done that. With me it had to do with color combinations I thought would work but that began to make me ill looking at them as I knitted.

I know your pain. Though I don't knit, I try to crochet and while I haven't tackled adult sized sweaters, I have been making baby sweaters. The lat one I have taken out at least 4 times because I just cannot get the ends of rows to come out even. I even asked my expert sister in law what I was doing wrong. She couldn't come up with anything. So I think it is the yarn. You have a lot to take out. Maybe finish it and give to away?

it is really pretty, but i can see why you'd think the pattern would get to be too much if it was everywhere. but i like it.

If you aren't loving it any more Judy, rip it out. Even if you finish it you won't wear it when you are done.

How about not making the front and the sleeves the same. Maybe they could be plain, no pattern, or plain except a bar or two of tulips. That way you don't have to start over and when you finish your sweater would be truly unique.

It's beautiful Judy! I've ripped out before -- if you're really not happy with it, that's what you should do 'cause you'll probably never like it. And Ouch! This is a bad year for no AC -- hopefully we'll see a little rain to cool things off.

When in doubt, rip it out!

You're not crazy. But I will say this is why I don't knit. I would lose my mind if I had to do that!

Hi Judy,
I only knit 'things'.....any thing but jumpers and cardigans....for this reason. I hate undoing knitting, and if I got as far as you have and wasn't sure I liked it any more...I'd turn what I'd done into Something else(like a hat..twist and sew) and start all over again. If you did this and used less of the same pattern you'd end up with a nice hat& cardi set for winter.
Have a good week

Judy, it looks so pretty. Can you make it into something else rather than rip it up?

I don't think I would have the patience.

Yes, I have ripped something out that I have knit that far.
If you REALLY think you'll never wear it, then rip it out. Otherwise it will be a waste of yarn and of time. Just saying.

I think it will be beautiful, but if you're not happy...rip it, rip it good!
