The other day our youngest walked in the kitchen and looked at this spot on the counter and said "Something's missing". This is the spot that our Nurtimill Grain Mill sat for a few years and before that a Whisper Mill sat. We have used the mills I would have to say almost everyday for the past 5 years.
Well I must confess, I can't really take credit for using the mills very much, that would be my husband Jim who uses them. A few years back Jim started to make his own bread for health reasons. I do use the flour in recipes but Jim uses it the most.
Why is it missing you ask?
Well, it bit the dust...It conked out...It's no more...It's broken. It had ground it's last kernel of wheat the other day.
So now what do we do? As you can see we have wheat left to be ground yet and there's more in buckets. But, all is not lost. I found this grinder over at The Big Yellow Farmhouse. I right away showed it to Jim, tho at the time we were not in need of a new grinder. I did talk to Shari about it and found out what kind it was, just in case the day came when we did need to get a new one. Well, that day has come. The only thing about it is we might be waiting a long time to get it. The company where you get it from are not overly customer friendly or for that matter Johnny-on-the-Spot as far as getting the product out to you in a timely fashion. But, from the reviews and corresponding with Shari the product seems to be a very good one that people like.
So, here's hoping that it will come sometime between now and next Halloween.

Hi Judy, we have a Golden Grain grinder that is stone-ground and very heavy duty. If you are interested I could find out where Lenny ordered it from. I know they have their own site, but I think we got a little better deal through a trading company. You could google "Golden Grain Grinder" to check it out. It is a wooden style with a pull out drawer. I really like ours! We have had it for several years now.
