The traffic was really bad when we got into the city. So, we got off the expressway and took a bit of a detour.
and
We ended up in Chinatown.
Getting off the expressway can be an eyeopener, especially for the three young riders in our car.
Life on the streets of Chicago is not something that our riders have ever seen, and it's something Jim and I don't ever see too often. You appreciate what you have when you see how others live.

I've never been to Chicago. Some of the pictures look much like the small towns here.
We like to get off the expressways and interstates and see things like this too.

It's nice to see something out of the norm at times. Makes us appreciate how we live and what we surround ourselves with. Chinatown sounds like it would have been a great place to get lunch! :)
Have a great day!

It's an eye opener, isn't it? I'm not a city person, even though I worked in a very large city for years.
I know what you mean about making you appreciate what you have.
Happy 4th!

Really? Chicago has a Chinatown??? You always hear about NYC's Chinatown or LA's Chinatown, but gosh...I didn't know Chicago had one!

I would love to go to a city and end up in Chinatown! Last night we watched an old movie: The Inn of the Sixth Happiness and it was so good. It is about a woman going to China as a missionary--based on a true story. A lot of info here--sorry; but so funny you post this, I had been thinking about reading the Good Earth again, and then we watched that movie.
I am rambling so will hush before I confuse you more.
